First Beans

Frost warning, such terrible words in the early stages of a garden after you've planted for the season. 

And, last night we had just that! We made a ridiculous looking, fort type structure with tomato cages and a bright blue tarp to protect all of the plants - better safe than sorry at this point! While we were getting everything in place I kept looking at the bean plants, thinking of how heavy they looked. So before closing up the protective fort, I picked our first green beans for the year! We've also got signs of itty bitty tomatoes and pickling cucumbers starting. Can't wait.
